Character Creation

New characters will start their journey as Novices in the Izlude Academy. The Academy hosts a variety of NPCs that can explain some server specific features to players. It also contains NPCs that will tell the new players a bit more about the 6 base classes and where their respective guilds are. So it is advisable for any new players in the server to wonder around the Academy first before first stepping outside.

The Academy has a free teleporter for new players that can send them to any of the cities hosting a base class guild.

Introduction to the world of Runerok

The world is divided up into a vast variety of regions. There are Towns where you are safe and can chat with other players; there are Fields, the regions right out of towns where you can encounter wild monsters; finally there are Dungeons, where more challenging travels await. The world map has been modified and some vanilla RO areas will have been changed or removed entirely. While some new areas have been added.

The sailor NPCs that can teleport you to islands will usually be fairly close to the mainland shore so pay attention to the world map.

Midgard is divided in 3 countries.

  • The Rune-Midgard Kingdom is the largest country and contains the continental area from umbala to the north of Prontera. The capital is Prontera.
  • The Schwartzvald Republic spawns the area From Aldebaran to Hugel and Einbroch. The capital is Yuno.
  • The Arunafeltz States is the western country and covers the territory from Lighthalzen to Niflheim at the North and Veins at the South.

Teleporters cannot warp you across two countries, but you can take the Airships in Izlude, Yuno, Hugel, Einbroch, Lighthalzen and Rael to easily navigate across all territories. The traveling is instantaneous in this server.

Navigating on Runerok Online

There are a variety of NPCs that can be found in every town. A Midgard Information NPC can explain a few basic server features.

Saving and respawning is not done in Kafras like in vanilla RO. Kafras are used for storage access, but saving is done in town Inns. Town Inns are marked with a bed symbol on the top right minimap. Aside from saving, Inns allow players to recover and buy Blessing and Increase Agi buffs.

Use the free warper NPCs to move around, you can use the Zonda Beginner Teleporter until you reach level 50 and the dungeon warper is always available. The dungeon warper in each city teleports to the closest dungeons in the world map, so you will need to go to different cities to easily get to their corresponding dungeons.

Runes are usually items that enhance equipment, but there are a couple of runes commonly used to help characters navigate maps.

Teleport.png Teleport Runestones can be bought from tool dealers/adventurer supplies shops and will teleport characters to a random spot within the current map.

Shelter.png The Shelter Runestone is a special item that is given to all starting characters. This runestone will teleport the user to their current save point.

Levelling Up

Levelling up means your character will be stronger, have better stats, HP/SP pool, more skills and will be able to equip better gear. So you will be wanting to get as much EXP as possible.

The most common way to get EXP is by defeating monsters in fields or dungeons. You will need to do that, but there are a couple of server features that can help with that. Each town holds a bounty board with quests that offer EXP and item rewards for defeating a certain number of monster types. There is also a Kafra Daily EXP booster that will increase the amount of EXP gained for an hour each day.
